Cannabis: Empowering Wellness Through Education

Cannabis is an ancient, versatile plant used for thousands of years in a variety of ways—from textiles and food to wellness and beyond. Despite its many uses, cannabis is still often misunderstood. At CannaFuse, my mission is to educate, empower, and make cannabis accessible, while honoring its deep legacy.

What Is Cannabis? Understanding Hemp, THC, and CBD

Cannabis is the name of the plant genus that includes both hemp and what is commonly referred to as marijuana. Though chemically similar, they are defined differently by law:

  • Hemp: Cannabis containing less than 0.3% THC. It is non-intoxicating and federally legal in the U.S. under the 2018 Farm Bill.
  • Marijuana: Cannabis containing more than 0.3% THC. It is federally restricted but legal in some states for adult or medical use.

Both hemp and marijuana contain cannabinoids such as:

  • THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol): Known for its psychoactive effects.
  • CBD (Cannabidiol): A non-intoxicating compound often used in wellness routines.

They also share minor cannabinoids like CBG, CBC, and naturally occurring terpenes. When used together, these compounds can create a synergistic interaction sometimes referred to as the “entourage effect.”

Why I Use the Term “Cannabis”

The word "marijuana" was popularized during anti-cannabis campaigns of the 20th century and often carried negative racial and political connotations. I prefer the term cannabis because it honors the plant’s scientific and traditional value.

That said, on this page and throughout my website, I refer to hemp more often due to current federal laws and trademark protections. CannaFuse operates under federal compliance and only offers hemp-derived products online. The cannabis I cultivate at Southern Oregon Moonshine is only available through licensed dispensaries in Oregon.

Why Make Your Own Infused Oil?

Making your own infused oil can be simple and empowering. You don’t need fancy tools—just clean, trusted plant material and a method for decarbing and infusing. With the right tools, like the CannaFuse Pouch, you can create custom infusions using hemp or cannabis flower at home.

This gives you more control over what you’re using, where it came from, and how it was made. Whether you’re using hemp from a local farm, dispensary flower, or legally homegrown plants, DIY infusion helps you connect more directly with the plant and your personal wellness goals.

Supporting Southern Oregon Farmers

Southern Oregon is known for growing some of the best sun-grown cannabis in the world. The natural climate, rich soil, and farming traditions make it ideal for cultivating plants with robust cannabinoid and terpene profiles.

Many small farms in the region use regenerative, sustainable practices—avoiding synthetic pesticides and prioritizing soil health. Supporting these legacy farmers means:

  • Choosing cleaner, more thoughtfully grown plants
  • Supporting local economies and multigenerational farms
  • Preserving traditional cultivation methods and craft quality

I am proud to be one of those farmers through my licensed cannabis brand, Southern Oregon Moonshine, and as a co-founder of Southern Oregon Family Farms, a craft cooperative dedicated to supporting small farms like mine.

Understanding Full-Spectrum Hemp and Microdose Options

Full-spectrum hemp retains a wide range of cannabinoids and terpenes, including trace amounts of THC (under 0.3%), which some people prefer for a more well-rounded infusion experience.

Some choose to incorporate very small amounts of THC—a practice known as microdosing. While research is ongoing, many people are exploring this approach for its gentler effects when incorporated into a mindful wellness routine. If you choose to microdose, be sure to follow all applicable laws and start with very low amounts.

My Mission with CannaFuse

The CannaFuse Pouch was designed to make cannabis and hemp oil infusion simple, affordable, and sustainable. This reusable silicone pouch allows you to decarb and infuse in one step, reducing waste and increasing convenience.

My goal is to empower people to make their own wellness products at home, especially in underserved or rural communities where access can be limited. By keeping the price low and the process simple, I hope to make full-spectrum herbal wellness more accessible for everyone.

Reclaiming Cannabis’s Legacy and Future

Cannabis has long been part of traditional medicine and community care. By choosing sun-grown hemp, making your own infusions, and supporting legacy farmers, you help shape a future where the plant is used responsibly, respectfully, and sustainably.

You don’t need to be an expert to start—you just need curiosity and the right tools. At CannaFuse, we’re here to support your journey with resources, education, and community. Let’s build something lasting, rooted in knowledge and care.
